Zamboanga City (CNN Philippines) — Two members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and a soldier were killed after engaging in a shootout with each other in a west coast barangay in Zamboanga City on Tuesday evening (August 18).

Police sources identified the slain policemen as PO1 Muhsin Jainul and PO3 Alkashmir Lipae, members of the Regional Public Safety Battalion based at the PNP Regional Headquarters.
