(CNN Philippines) — Three soldiers face charges for illegally discharging their firearms on New Year's Eve.

Police from Mansalay, Ortiental Mindoro arrested the soldiers who are members of the 514th Engineering Construction Batallion of the 51st Engineering Brigade.

Oriental Mindoro provincial director Senior Supt. Christopher Birung identified the soldiers as PFC Kevin Fajilagutan, PFC Leonard Magro, and PFC John Rey Calansa – all three were assigned in Mansalay town.

According to Birung, the three soldiers shot their calibre .45 firearms at Barangay Roma.

Nymar Villanueva, a resident of the barangay was injured in the incident.

The soldiers are now detained at Mansalay police station while an investigation is being conducted.
