Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 5) — Authorities recovered cocaine estimated at P125 million on the shores of Matnog, Sorsogon.

The illegal drugs were in 25 sealed plastic packs inside a blue plastic container.

The police, in a statement, said the cocaine was found  as nine Chinese crew members of a distressed Chinese cargo vessel, Jing Ming No. 16, were rescued  by local authorities in Laoang Island in nearby Northern Samar.

The nine Chinese crew are now in police custody.

Sorsogon police is also looking into the possibility the seized drugs were connected to the distressed ship in opposite shores across the San Bernardino Strait.
