Cebu City (CNN Philippines, January 20) — About a hundred boats joined Saturday morning's fluvial procession for the Feast of the Sto. Niño de Cebu at the Mactan Channel.

Devotees waited by the shores of Mactan Channel as the Sto. Niño was paraded around the port area.

It started on Friday when the image of the Sto. Niño was brought to Lapu-Lapu City through a motorcade — passing by Mandaue's Shrine of Saint Joseph.  From there, the image of the Holy Child Jesus was brought back to Cebu City in a fluvial procession.

The Santo Niño was placed onboard Philippine Navy's BRP Agta. This is the first time a Navy ship was used to transport the Santo Niño. The navy ship acted as the Spanish Galleon that brought the image, the oldest Christian relic in the country, to Cebu.

A grand parade for Sinulog will take place on Sunday.

The Sinulog-Santo Niño Festival is an annual religious festival held every third Sunday of January. It is held in honor of the Santo Niño de Cebu, which is believed to be miraculous.

The Department of Tourism calls it Cebu's biggest and most popular festival.
