Fragmentation grenade disabled in Cotabato City as Bangsamoro plebiscite starts

Cotabato City (CNN Philippines, January 21) — Bomb squad members were quick to disable a fragmentation grenade found in Cotabato City minutes before the polling precincts opened for the Bangsamoro plebiscite.
The grenade was found at the corner of Sausa and San Juan Streets in Barangay Rosary Heights 1 in Cotabato City on the morning of the historic vote.
Authorities covered the suspected grenade with sandbags before detonating. No one was injured in the incident.

On Sunday night, an explosion also happened in Cotabato City. According to police report, the incident occurred in Rosary Heights near the residence of Municipal Trial Court Judge Angelito Rasalan at around 9 pm on Sunday. No casualties and damage to properties were reported.
Residents of Cotabato City on Monday, January 21, will participate in a plebiscite that will determine if the area will be included in a new Bangsamoro territory in Mindanao.
