Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The Rain or Shine ElastoPainters defeated Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, 102-89, to sweep their quarterfinals series in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner's Cup on Tuesday (April 19) at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

JR Quinahan provided the spark, scoring 21 points on 10-of-15 shooting to help Rain or Shine advance to the semifinals where they will face the winner of the series between San Miguel and Star.

The top-seeded Beermen lost their twice-to-beat advantage after the Hotshots beat them on Monday, 108-99.

Jeff Chan scored a team-high 22 points, while Maverick Ahanmisi added 13.

Ginebra was only down by six points at the half, but allowed the ElastoPainters build a double-digit lead in the third quarter. Rain or Shine went up by 13 points, 71-58, after a jumper from JR Quinahan, 4:20 left in the period.

A pair of free throws from Chris Ellis at the 2:36 mark cut the Gin Kings' deficit to nine, but Rain or Shine again extended the lead back up to 13 points to end the third quarter.

The ElastoPainters pushed their margin to 15 in the final period after a pair of free throws from Raymond Almazan. But Ginebra scored five straight points — a triple from LA Tenorio and a transition layup from Japeth Aguilar — to trim the lead to 10, 8:57 remaining in the game.

A three-point play from Othyus Jeffers pulled Ginebra closer, 83-74, but Quinahan knocked down a triple to bring Rain or Shine's lead back up to 12 points. Tenorio made a triple on the other end, but Quinahan quickly responded with a jumper of his own, keeping the ElastoPainters up by double digits, 88-77, 6:01 left in the fourth quarter.

Maverick Ahanmisi scored four of Rain or Shine's next six points to widen the gap to 14 points, 94-80, with 3:10 remaining in the game.

Aguilar made a basket on Ginebra's next possession but two straight layups from Jeff Chan gave the ElastoPainters a 16-point lead, enough to seal the victory.

Ginebra was led by Jeffers, who had 27 points and 14 rebounds. Aguilar and Greg Slaughter each contributed 14 points.
