Alyssa Valdez captures third straight UAAP MVP award

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Alyssa Valdez of the Ateneo Lady Eagles has bagged her third consecutive University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) women's volleyball Most Valuable Player award.

The 22-year-old skipper was also named Best Scorer and Best Server in the final season of her five-year illustrious collegiate stint.

Meanwhile, La Salle took home majority of the individual honors.

Lady Spikers team captain Kim Fajardo was hailed Best Setter, while the Best Blocker award went to Mary Joy Baron. Libero Dawn Macandili won Best Receiver and Best Digger.

National University's Jaja Santiago is the Best Spiker, and Isa Molde of the UP Lady Maroons won Rookie of the Year honors.

In the men's tournament, Ateneo's Marck Espejo reigned supreme after copping three awards — Most Valuable Player, Best Spiker, and Best Server.

His teammate Esmilzo Polovorosa was named Best Setter.

DLSU's Raymark Woo was hailed Best Scorer, while UE's Edward Camposano is Best Blocker. Rikko Marmeto of FEU won Best Receiver.

NU's Ricky Marcos and James Natividad are the Best Digger and Rookie of the Year, respectively.

The awarding ceremony for the men's and women's individual honors is set on Wednesday (April 27 PHT) at the Mall of Asia Arena.
