Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters drew first blood in their best-of-seven series against the Alaska Aces with a 105-97 win in Game 1 of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner's Cup finals on Friday (May 6) at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Paul Lee came off the bench to lead Rain or Shine with 20 points, on 7-of-12 shooting. Jericho Cruz added 16, while Gabe Norwood chipped in 11 markers.

The score was tied at 87-all in the fourth quarter. But Rain or Shine went on a 7-0 tear, including five straight points from Norwood, to go up 94-87, 5:49 remaining.

Alaska trimmed the lead to two, 96-94,  with 58 seconds left, after a pair of free throws from RJ Jazul but the Elasto Painers had enough in their tank to notch the victory.

Rob Dozier topscored for the Aces with 41 points, to go along with 15 rebounds.

Game 2 is on Sunday (May 8) at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
