Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 16) — The Philippine men's national basketball squad stayed undefeated in the 2017 South East Asian Basketball Association (SEABA) Championship following a 108-53 win over Thailand on Tuesday evening at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Japeth Aguilar paced the Philippines with 23 points and five rebounds.

After having a one-day rest, Gilas Pilipinas had a subpar opening quarter performance compared to Thailand's aggressive style of play that gave the Thais an early 8-7 advantage.

But the Filipinos stepped on the gas with their bench support to spark a 33-point outburst in the second period to take a 51-26 edge at the halftime break.

The Philippines continued to assert its dominance in the second half as all Filipino players were able to score a field goal.

Calvin Abueva added 15 points and six rebounds, while Andray Blatche and Terrence Romeo chipped in 11 points apiece for Gilas Pilipinas.

Teerawat Chanthachon led Thailand with 16 markers and seven boards.

The Philippines extends its winning streak to four, while Thailand dropped its second match in five outings.

Gilas will next face Vietnam tomorrow at the Big Dome at 7 p.m.
