Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 19) — The San Miguel Beermen got back to the winning track following a 114-108 victory over the NLEX Road Warriors on Friday evening at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Import Charles Rhodes had another monster performance for the Beermen with 37 points, 19 rebounds, and three blocks.

After a two-week break, San Miguel did not show any signs of rust and even caught fire in the opening quarter by knocking down seven triples to enjoy a 36-22 head start.

It was the same story in the second period as the Beermen continued to push the tempo and end up with a 17-point advantage at the halftime break.

Despite the absence of its three players due to injuries, SMB's bench showed that they were ready to rise to the occasion.

The Road Warriors were able to trim San Miguel's lead to single digit midway in the payoff period, but the Beermen's composure was the key in the match.

Chris Ross added 15 points, 11 assists, and seven rebounds for SMB.

Wayne Chism paced the Road Warriors with 22 points, four rebounds, and three assists.

San Miguel improved to 6-1 in the team standings, while NLEX remained winless after nine outings.

The Beermen will go up against Barangay Ginebra on May 21 (Sunday) at the Mall of Asia Arena.
