UST wins UAAP Season 79 general championship for seniors and juniors divisions

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 19) — University of Sto. Tomas (UST) bagged the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 79 general championships both for the juniors and seniors division, the league announced Friday.

UST topped seven tournaments: men's beach volleyball, women's volleyball, men's judo, women's judo, men's table tennis, men's taekwondo, women's track and field.

The España-based institution garnered 312 points to capture its 41st UAAP seniors general championship.

De La Salle University came in at second place with 271 points which was highlighted by triumphs in men's basketball, women's football, poomsae, women's table tennis, and women's volleyball.

Ateneo's success in men's football, men's swimming, men's volleyball, and baseball propelled them to the third spot with 239 points.

University of the Philippines ended up at fourth place (214 points), followed by National University (185 points) at fifth, Far Eastern University (172 points) at sixth, University of the East (142 points) at seventh, and Adamson University (92 points) at the last spot.

In the juniors division, UST lorded over the boys judo, boys swimming, and girls table tennis and tallied 171 points to claim its 17th general championship.

University of the East and La Salle were the runner-ups with 141 points and 137 points respectively.
