Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 7) — The Meralco Bolts stayed alive in the quarterfinals after outlasting TNT KaTropa in overtime, 103-100, on Wednesday evening at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Baser Amer had an incredible outing for Meralco with 32 points, six rebounds, and four assists.

The Bolts started the match with a high-octane offense which caught TNT off guard at the opposite end.

KaTropa slowly climbed back in the ball game with relentless attacks to the basket even trimming the deficit to just five points at the halftime break.

Down by eight points in crunch time, TNT’s composure was tested down the wire – and they delivered.

RR Garcia knocked down a crucial three-pointer to cut Meralco’s lead to one, 92-91, with 34.3 seconds remaining in the game.

Jared Dillinger’s missed three-point attempt gave KaTropa the chance to win the match, but Joshua Smith only converted one free throw in the dying seconds to send the contest into overtime.

Chris Newsome sealed the victory for the Bolts with a clutch jumper.

Cliff Hodge and Kelly contributed 15 points apiece for Meralco.

Import Joshua Smith paced TNT with 18 points and 18 rebounds.
