Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 7) — The girls from España were quick to bounce back.

After a five-set loss to the De La Salle University Lady Spikers in their opening game Saturday, the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Tigresses swept the University of the East (UE) Lady Warriors, 25-17, 25-15, 25-21, on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan City.

UST rallied behind energetic hitter Cherry Rondina, who delivered 20 points, 19 off attacks, including the game-winning middle hit.

Tigresses Dimdim Pacres and Christine Francisco also chipped in 8 and 7 markers, respectively.

The Lady Warriors' offense banked on Mary Ann Mendrez and Judith Abil who combined for 19 points.

UST improved to a 1-1 standing, while Francis Vicente-mentored squad failed to bounce back from their loss to the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons and dropped to 0-2.

The Lady Warriors will next face the National University Lady Bulldogs, while UST will joust with the Ateneo de Manila Lady Eagles, both on February 11 at The Arena.
