Gilas mainstays, cadets, TNT players compose national team roster for Asian Games

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 18) — A mix of Gilas Pilipinas holdovers, cadets, and TNT KaTropa players will represent the country in the 2018 Asian Games.

National team head coach Chot Reyes confirmed the news to CNN Philippines via text message Monday.

Mainstay Jayson Castro and naturalized player Andray Blatche headline the 12-man lineup for the quadrennial sports meet.

Also included in the roster are KaTropa cagers Terrence Romeo, Roger Pogoy, Jericho Cruz, Don Trollano, Anthony Semerad, Troy Rosario, and Kelly Williams.

Gilas cadets Ricci Rivero, Kobe Paras, Abu Tratter complete the cast.

In the last edition in 2014, the national squad finished with a 3-4 record to end up at seventh place.

The Philippines has captured four gold medals in the men's basketball of the regional tournament (1951, 1954, 1958, 1962).

The 2018 Asian Games will run from August 18 to September 2 in Indonesia.
