(CNN Philippines, July 23) — The Ateneo Blue Eagles may have fallen short in their 2018 William Jones Cup campaign, but they are thankful for the opportunity to represent the country in the international basketball tournament.

The Katipunan-based squad landed at fourth place with a 5-3 win-loss record in the competition.

The highlight of the Blue Eagles' stint was Matt Nieto's game-winning three point shot against host team, Chinese-Taipei.

Thirdy Ravena and Isaac Go thanked everyone who supported their journey despite not landing a podium finish.

Adrian, Raffy Verano, and Mike Nieto also took time to show their appreciation and expressed how proud they were in representing the country and their alma mater.

This experience will undeniably boost Ateneo's preparation for its title-retention bid in the upcoming 81st season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) which will begin this September.
