UAAP: Ateneo Blue Eagles begin title retention quest against Adamson

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 16) — The Ateneo Blue Eagles will start their title defense bid versus the Adamson Soaring Falcons in the 81st season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) men's seniors basketball tournament.

The Blue Eagles will have an almost intact lineup with big man Chibueze Ikeh and Vince Tolentino as the only graduating players.

Reigning Finals Most Valuable Player Thirdy Ravena, Isaac Go, Anton Asistio, Mike Nieto, and Matt Nieto will be back in the fold to lead Ateneo.

Newcomers Angelo Kouame and SJ Belangel will bolster the Katipunan-based squad who is gunning for its 10th UAAP title.

 

On the other hand, the Soaring Falcons will rely again on Jerrick Ahanmisi, Sean Manganti, and Papi Sarr with multi-titled mentor Franz Pumaren back at the helm.

Game time is scheduled on September 9 at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena in Pasay City.

Runner-up De La Salle University Green Archers will battle Far Eastern University Tamaraws in the first game.

Meanwhile, the opening ceremony will take place at the MOA Arena on Septemebr 8. The University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons tackle the University of the East Warriors in the curtain raiser, while the National University Bulldogs take on the new-look University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers in the second match.
