(CNN Philippines, August 29) — The Philippine women's volleyball team absorbed a tough beating from China in the 2018 Asian Games.

The Philippines suffered a straight loss to China, 25-15, 25-9, 25-7, Wednesday at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Jaja Santiago paced the Philippines with 16 points.

China established full control on both ends of the taraflex to take the opening set.

The Philippines continued to struggle, as it was limited to single digit in the second set.

China's 8-1 start summarized the story of the whole match, as the Philippines just could not find a bright spot in the third set.

It's interesting to note that China has yet to drop a set in the tournament.

The loss relegated the Philippines to the classification round for the fifth to eighth place. They will face Kazakhstan on August 31.

China, meanwhile, will battle Japan in the semifinals also on August 31.
