Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 14) — More than an athlete.

NLEX Road Warriors star Kiefer Ravena will be holding a charity golf tournament for the benefit of two members of the local basketball world

The 24-year-old cager has been playing golf recently due to the 18-month ban given to him by FIBA over the use of prohibited substances.

"I'll be having the first Chooks-to-Go Phenom Cup on October 24 at the Valley Golf and Country Club in Antipolo," he told CNN Philippines Sports Desk Thursday.

All proceeds will go to Letran Knights guard Jerrick Balanza and veteran coliseum barker Rolly Manlapaz.

"It's going for the benefit of Jerick Balanza who suffered a brain tumor and underwent a surgery and Rolly Manlapaz who covered me from the start," Ravena said. "I just want to help these people who are part of the basketball world in my own special way. It's also my birthday tournament."

This is not the first time Ravena is holding a sporting charity event as he also headed Fastbreak 1, 2, and 3.

"I wanted something new and something I could participate in. Hopefully a lot of people will support this."
