A regulator board caught fire in one of the coaches of the MRT-3.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 18) — Another Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) problem on a Monday morning.

At 6 a.m. Monday, a regulator board caught fire in one of the coaches of the MRT-3. Northbound passengers were unloaded at the Santolan station due to the incident.

The fire broke out underneath a passenger's seat, according to MRT-3 management.

CNN Philippines is finding out if passengers were hurt during the incident.

The MRT-3 unloaded passengers 17 times from September 11 to 15 due to technical problems, forcing thousands of irate commuters to find other means of transport.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) blamed the numerous problems with the MRT-3 this week on poor service by maintenance provider, Busan Rails.
