'Respeto' bags Cinemalaya 2017 Best Film award

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Respeto begets respect as the Best Film in this year's Cinemalaya.

The rap battle musical-drama which stars Filipino rappers Abra and Loonie was awarded in the closing ceremonies of Cinemalaya 2017 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Sunday.

Actor Dido de la Paz won Best Supporting Actor and the film also excelled in technical categories, taking home awards for Best Editing, Best Cinematography, and Best Sound.

The debut film of Treb Montreras II tells the story of an underground rap artist and a seasoned poet facing their respective demons.
