Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 9) — Break-ups don't have to be bitter.

That's what iconic '80s love team Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion show in their recent collaboration, a fast-food advertisement released Friday.

Their chance encounter in a McDonald's outlet is framed as bittersweet — sweet for the former couple, but with a hint of nostalgia for their fans, who took to the Internet to express their kilig.

The advertisement shows Cuneta eating alone, when Concepcion asks if he can join her.

"Ikaw naman," says Cuneta, "Parang wala tayong pinagsamahan."

The scene of the former couple sharing a dinner is set to the song "Kumusta Ka," originally performed by Nonoy Zuñiga, which contains the lyrics: "Kumusta ka? / May ibang kislap ang yong mata; / Halata na ang daigdig mo ngayon ay kay saya."

However, the commercial leaves out the lyrics about still being in love with the other person.

The caption, which included the hashtag #ShaGabLovesMcDo, read: "Noon pa man, love mo na sila. Your classic favorites na ang sarap balik-balikan!"

The fast-food chain compared the pairing to their bestselling combination of Chicken McDo and fries.

"The Chicken McDo with Fries Meal is one of our best-sellers and has truly become a favorite of our customers over the years. In the same way, ShaGab is one of the most-loved tambalans all time, truly transcending generations," shared Christina Lao, McDonald's marketing director.

McDonald's first teased the advertisement on Instagram with a post that read "Dear Heart, Kita kits! P.S. I love you" -- referencing two films by the iconic love team.

Cuneta and Concepcion were married in the 1980s, but this was annulled in 1993.

The couple has a daughter, Kristina Cassandra "KC" Concepcion.

KC even teased the two, posting a screen cap of her father following Cuneta on Instagram. She wrote, "Well played, fam. #NeverInMyWildestDreams" in her caption.

Cuneta's husband, Senator Kiko Pangilinan, expressed support for her project with her former husband. He added, "It's her craft... and she's a professional."

Speaking to CNN Philippines' The Source in November, Cuneta previously dismissed the idea of collaborating with Concepcion on a film.

"If a movie's just gonna give me stress from other people, not necessarily from someone I'm working with, but people who create intrigue and just stress me out, I would rather just do another one," Cuneta said.
