The 36-year-old actor clarified that his appearance in the historical drama film 'Culion' is just a cameo.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 1)— Actor John Lloyd Cruz’ official return to the limelight may have to wait a little longer.

Following reports — and sheer excitement — of his supposed comeback to the big screen, the 36-year-old actor clarified that his appearance in the historical drama film “Culion” is just a cameo.

Cruz confirmed this in an interview with ANC on Tuesday.

After an almost two-year-hiatus, Cruz made a surprise stint in the recently released teaser clip of the film — sparking excitement among fans and netizens.

Set in the Palawan town in the 1940s, “Culion” follows the story of three women seeking a cure for the dreaded disease leprosy.

The movie, written by award-winning screenwriter and novelist Ricky Lee, also stars Iza Calzado, Meryll Soriano, and Jasmine Curtis-Smith.

Cruz announced an “indefinite leave of absence” from the industry in October 2017. He was previously linked to fellow network star Ellen Adarna. The two reportedly welcomed a child in 2018.

Cruz last appeared in the 2017 romantic-comedy film “Finally Found Someone”with Sarah Geronimo.
