Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 10) — Gazini Ganados is set to fight for the Philippines' back-to-back Miss Universe title, while Patch Magtanong will represent the country in the upcoming Miss International.

But eagle-eyed beauty pageant fans liken this year's list of winners to the Binibining Pilipinas results in 2016.

Maxine Medina worked to also bring home the crown won by Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, but she only made it to the top six in the pageant. Like Medina, Ganados hopes to follow in the footsteps of her predecessor, Catriona Gray, in the international stage.

Netizens said Magtanong, who recently passed the bar exams, was this year's Kylie Verzosa — insinuating they were both robbed of the chance to represent the Philippines in the most prestigious beauty pageant.

But fans are hopeful Magtanong will be as victorious as Verzosa who bagged the Philippines' sixth Miss International crown.

Netizens said the result of the Binibining Pilipinas on Sunday will probably work in favor of Magtanong in the long run, citing the unlikely chance of a back-to-back win at the Miss Universe.
