Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 10)— Actor, basketball player—and now an Army reservist.

Gerald Anderson has added another title to his name as he joined the Philippine Army reserve forces after completing Scout Ranger training in Bulacan.

Anderson, together with fellow network stars Elmo Magalona, Yves Flores, Jerome Ponce, and Nash Aguas, were conferred the rank of private on Friday, following a rigorous three-day training course. The actors' training were reportedly part of preparations for an upcoming show.

Anderson on Saturday broke his social media silence to share the accomplishment with his followers.

“I have learned so much in just three days. Being the company commander taught me how to lead other people but most important how to lead myself and stay composed despite any situation,” Anderson wrote on his Instagram page.

Andreson and his co-stars join actor-singer Matteo Guidicelli on the list of celebrities who recently became Army reservists. The Filipino-Italian finished his Scout Ranger training back in June.
