Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 20) - Miss Universe Philippines unveiled on Tuesday the crown to be worn by its first winner ahead of the coronation on Sunday.

The crown will be called “Filipina” and was crafted by the Villarica Family in Meycauayan, Bulacan.

“More than their expertise on gems and jewelry, they provided us with valuable insights on the significance of precious stones and what each one represents,” said the organization in a Facebook post. “These gems are emblems of dreams, ambition, happiness, pride, self-worth, and empowerment.”

The pageant organization said the crown symbolizes triumph, hard work, and perseverance. It added that the elements in the crown reflects the “true meaning of womanhood.”

“The swirl of leaves are like the lives of every woman who seeks success in different forms yet still keeps the Filipino values in their hearts. Every diamond embedded in each leaf lusters like smiles that sparkle the lives of people that she encounters,” read the post.

“Sapphire, Ruby and Topaz represent the flag of every proud Filipina, a woman who believes in the beauty of her race, the strength that runs in the veins of her blood and the beat of her heart that would always describe a true FILIPINA,” it added.

The local franchise for Miss Universe was previously under Binibining Pilipinas until 2019.

The coronation day of the first edition of Miss Universe Philippines will be held at Baguio Country Club on October 25. More than 40 ladies will compete for the chance to represent the country at the Miss Universe pageant next year.
