Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 25)— Christmas celebrations around the globe have taken a different turn this year, with people slowing down with their plans due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Most Filipinos have opted for small, intimate gatherings at home — including celebrities.

Take a look at how some of your favorite stars celebrated the holiday season:

Family affair

Many celebrities decided to skip travel plans and settled for the traditional, meaningful “Noche Buena” with their families at home.

Locked down

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach expressed merry wishes to her followers all the way from the United Kingdom — which has tightened restrictions due to COVID-19.

“This year it’s just [Jeremy Jauncey] and I as the UK has gone into lockdown - a slightly different Christmas but a very special one all the same!” Wurtzbach wrote on her Instagram account, accompanying the post with a photo of her and her boyfriend Jauncey coupled up beside their Christmas tree.

Safe travel

While most celebrities stayed home for Christmas, others— including actress Kim Chiu— decided to fly to recently-opened tourist destinations.

Actress Glaiza De Castro, meanwhile, surprised her fans with a unique Christmas Eve gift — the announcement of her engagement to partner David Rainey.

“Who would’ve thought I’d say yes in freezing cold weather… it just felt right,” De Castro shared on her social media page.
