Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 8) — Sam Smith's viral tweet about a Filipino boy belting his 2017 hit "Too Good at Goodbyes" at a public karaoke machine was this year's most liked tweet and top retweet in the Philippines.

On February 8, English singer Sam Smith was wowed by Carl Malone Montecido, a blind boy from Bacolod City.

"WHO IS THIS KID!!!!!? YOU ARE OUT OF THIS UNIVERSE WHOEVER YOU ARE," Smith wrote on Twitter.

Montecido had previously joined TV singing competitions, including Pilipinas Got Talent and Tawag ng Tanghalan, where he became a finalist.

The tweet also ended up as one of the most engaged tweets in Southeast Asia.

Meanwhile, the most tweeted hashtag in the country was P-Pop boy group #sb19, while #MayWard was the most tweeted about loveteam. #MaineMendoza and #AldenRichards are still the most talked about celebrities on Twitter.

KPop group @BTS_twt, once again, topped the list as most tweeted about K-Pop group and most tweeted about K-Pop hashtag. They are followed by @BLACKPINK, and @pledis_17.

On the other hand, the group ENHYPEN (@ENHYPEN_members) officially debuted recently, and gained a following among Filipino audiences.
