Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 11) — GMA Network has secured the rights to co-produce a "Running Man" series in the Philippines, patterned after the popular variety show in South Korea.

The channel announced the signing of a co-production deal with SBS Korea on Tuesday, which gave the GMA the local franchise of the long-running Sunday show that features performances and games played by hosts and celebrity guests.

The network reported that "Running Man Philippines" is set to air in 2021.

Among its mainstays are Lee Kwang Soo, Yoo Jae Suk, Ji Suk Jin, Kim Jong Kook, Haha, Song Ji Hyo, Yang Se Chan, and Jeon So Min. The group was set to hold a fan meeting at the Mall of Asia Arena last Sunday, February 9 but was moved to June 21 due to the global novel coronavirus outbreak.

SBS earlier granted franchises to produce Running Man in Vietnam and China. The same network was behind TV series such as "My Love from the Star," "The Legend of the Blue Sea," and "While You Were Sleeping."

GMA is currently airing its Philippine adaptation of "Descendants of the Sun," a hit drama series first produced by Korean network KBS2 in 2016.
