Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 26) — Actor Matteo Guidicelli finally spoke up on Wednesday about his "perfect" wedding with pop princess Sarah Geronimo and cleared the air on the scuffle that allegedly ensued because of the Christian ceremony that was kept a secret from her family.

He confirmed he married the love of his life on February 20.

"A day full of pure love, honesty and genuine emotions. Yes, we got married. Mr and Mrs. Guidicelli. First and foremost, we would like to express the overwhelming joy, love and excitement we have in beginning our life together. We decided to keep everything as intimate as possible because of private matters," he posted on Instagram, signed by "Mr. and Mrs. Guidicelli. The post shows the lovebirds toasting, but it's unknown if it was taken during their wedding day.

He added, "We are happy, we are blessed, and we are husband and wife! Let’s always celebrate life and love! Nothing will ever defeat pure honest LOVE."

With the overwhelming joy also comes intrigues that surround the highly-confidential wedding. Guidicelli denied the claims of Geronimo's bodyguard that the actor punched him after he informed the clueless Mommy Divine, the mother of the "Tala" singer, that the wedding was set that night. There have been earlier reports that Mommy Divine did not approve of her 31-year-old daughter's relationship with Guidicelli.

He vowed to protect her at all cost.

"That evening was almost perfect until some unexpected events took place, but don’t worry I never “punched” anyone. I will forever stand up and protect my wife just as how my father would protect my whole family," he wrote.

It was reported on February 21 that the two Kapamilya stars tied that knot, but the confirmation only came from a police report filed by bodyguard Jerry Tamara after he was allegedly punched in the throat by Guidicelli, an actor turned Army reserve.

The Filipino-Italian actor and model thanked his family for accepting Sarah as part of their family. He said he is hopeful things will only get better. His family was present during the Christian wedding ceremony, but Sarah's parent's were not invited at the wedding and reception.

"I would like to say thank you to my family for loving Sarah like a daughter. Our family is growing and we are blessed. Papa and Mama, thank you for deeply loving and welcoming Sarah into our family. In time, with God’s grace and love, everything will heal and fall into place," he wrote.

The long-time celebrity couple, nicknamed "AshMatt," announced their engagement in November 2019. The couple confirmed their relationship in 2014.
