Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 4) — Actress Kim Chiu is safe after unidentified gunmen shoot at her van in Quezon City on Wednesday.

"Yes I am safe po. I’m ok and my P.A. And my driver as well. Papa Jesus protected us," she posted on her Instagram page.

A police report based on the statement of Chiu's driver Wilfred Taperla said two suspects on board a motorcycle fired six gunshots at their vehicle along Katipunan Avenue corner C.P. Garcia Avenue at around 6:15 a.m. Wednesday.

The 29-year-old actress recalled the terrifying ordeal. She said she was asleep inside her car when she was awakened by what she said were eight gunshots. When she woke up, she saw bullet shells right beside her head.

"I saw this bullet on the windshield where my head is laying. (I was thinking) 'Buti nakahiga ako.' Pano kung tinuloy ko magbasa ng script?... I was so scared, I don't know what to feel right now," she said.

A shaken Chiu believes the shooting incident was a case of mistaken identity.

"I don't have an idea what really happened, mistaken identity? I guess?? Napag tripan? Wala naman akong kaaway or ka atraso," she said.

She added, "Sana tininignan nyo muna ang plate number bago nyo paulanan ng bala yung kotse ko."

Her driver said the two suspects wearing black helmets and jackets fled towards Katipunan Avenue after the incident.

Chiu's home network ABS-CBn condemned the shooting, adding that they are working closely with authorities.

Chiu is currently starring in ABS-CBN's afternoon drama television series "Love Thy Woman."
