Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 10) — Singer and TV host Ethel Booba has disowned a Twitter account named after her which had been critical of the Duterte administration and has led to her publishing a book titled “#Charotism.”

In a sudden turnaround, the singer and TV host took to Instagram to post a screenshot of the @IamEthylGabison Twitter account — which is no longer accessible — to denounce it as fake.

“Beware of this FAKE! Twitter! #StopUsingMyName #fake #fakenews #peke,” she wrote.

However, in several TV interviews, including one ABS-CBN’s Tonight With Boy Abunda, Booba confirmed that she was the one behind the Twitter account which grew in popularity due to its sharp tirades against the Duterte administration and its policies.

'Pag nagtu-tweet ako kasi, minsan may mga English na malalalim. Gusto ko kasi yung magiisip sila sa mga tinu-tweet ko,” she told ABS-CBN’s Pareng Partners in July 2018. “‘Pagka hindi ko kayang i-English, pinapa-translate ko sa mga friends ko.

[Translation: When I tweet, sometimes there are English words which are too deep. I want people to think about what I tweet … If I can’t write it in English, I ask my friends to translate it.]
