Filipinos welcome Steve Harvey, two days before he hosts the Miss Universe 2016 grand coronation.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Steve Harvey arrived in Manila Saturday morning to host the Miss Universe 2016 grand coronation on Monday.

The American actor-comedian arrived at the NAIA Terminal 1 via a special flight, the Department of Tourism (DOT) said.

He was greeted by Tourism Undersecretary Ricky Alegre and Former Governor Chavit Singson, one of the main sponsors of the 65th Miss Universe pageant.

"In the tradition of genuine Filipino hospitality, we extend our hand of friendship," the DOT said in a statement.

Harvey will host this year's pageant coronation despite his major blunder at the Miss Universe 2015 coronation night. He mistakenly announced Miss Colombia as the winner instead of the Philippines' Pia Wurtzbach.

"Filipinos welcome Steve Harvey with open arms and without any reservation," the DOT said.

The grand coronation happens at the Mall of Asia Arena on Monday and will kick off with the announcement of the Top 12 candidates.

Plus-size model Ashley Graham will also be hosting backstage, while Filipino-Hawaiian vlogger Bretman Rock will serve as the Miss Universe red carpet host.
