Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 24) - Fifteen policemen from the Quezon City Police District were relieved from their posts after six Chinese inmates escaped from the temporary custodial facility of Camp Karingal, an official said Wednesday.

QCPD chief BGen. Ronnie Montejo said the 15 officers, who were assigned with the District Mobile Force Batallon, have been disarmed following the inmates' escape on Monday. They will be investigated for violating the Article 224 of the Revised Penal Code or the evasion through negligence.

An administrative investigation will also be initiated against them, Montejo added.

QCPD said the Chinese nationals were identified as Zhang Yi Xin, Ludong Jin, Song Qicheng, Lu Yinliang, Huang Yong Qiao and Chen Bin.

Montejo noted the six Chinese inmates who escaped were also among the 342 foreign nationals apprehended by the Bureau of Immigration last December for working without permit and visa.

It was also discovered that they were working for a Philippine offshore gaming operator which is not licensed to operate by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.
