(CNN Philippines) — The Northern Philippines continues to bear the brunt of Typhoon Dodong (internationally known as Noul), less than a day after it made landfall in Santa Ana, Cagayan.

In its latest storm tracking-update at 6:00 a.m. Monday (May11), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration's (PAGASA) said that the typhoon was located in the vicinity of Basco, Batanes.

Likewise, the agency noted in its 5:00 a.m. bulletin that Dodong has maintained strength since 11:00 last night (May 10.) The storm is predicted to move north at 19 kph with maximum sustained winds of 160 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 195 kph.

PAGASA forecasts that the Batanes, Calayan, and Babuyan group of islands will have stormy weather, with rough to very rough seas, while gusty winds and rains will prevail over Capayao, Apayao and Ilocos Norte.

Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms will be experienced over the rest of Northern Luzon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA has downgraded public storm warning signals in several provinces, As of posting time, only the following alerts remain in effect:

New storm brewing

The weather bureau expects Typhoon Dodong to exit Philippine territory by Tuesday morning (May 12), but it is also monitoring another weather disturbance.

PAGASA weather forecaster Samuel Duran said that the bureau is monitoring a tropical storm with international name Dolphin.

He says Tropical Storm Dolphin is still out of Philippine territory, although it may enter sometime next week.

Once it enters Philippine territory, Duran says it will be called Egay.
