Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 10) — The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) has adjusted the schedule of free rides offered to students in the aftermath of fire which affected operations at three stations of the LRT 2 line.

The LRTA posted the announcement on Twitter Thursday, saying free rides for students would now be only from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday beginning October 8.

"Schedule of free rides in the morning will resume once the full operation of the LRT 2 system is restored," the statement said.

LRT 2, which runs from Santolan in Marikina to Recto in Manila, has been partially operating since Tuesday, October 8. The trains run only from Cubao, Quezon City, until Recto, and with limited schedules and trains.

The train system's operations were disrupted after power supply transformers in between the Anonas and Katipunan stations and in the Santolan depot tripped on October 3, leading to a fire.

Due to the fire, train operations from Santolan to Anonas stations will be on hold for up to nine months.
