Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 19) — Davao City Representative-elect Paolo Duterte hosted a dinner at Malago Lounge in Malacañang Park for more than 125 incoming members of the House of Representatives in the 18th Congress, including two House Speaker aspirants.

President Rodrigo Duterte also attended the event Bagong Henerasyon party-list Rep. Bernadette Herrera-Dy said it lasted until the “wee hours of the morning.”

House Speaker aspirants Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Jay Velasco and Pampanga 3rd district Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales were present as well as 1-PACMAN party-list Rep. Mikee Romero, president of the 54-member party-list coalition.

Velasco said the event was a "fellowship" for Congress neophytes to get to know each other.

"We want to foster camaraderie among the incoming members of the 18th Congress so we can work harmoniously and forward our legilsative agenda, as well as the administration's priority for the next three years," Velasco said in a statement Wednesday.

Also spotted was Duterte Youth party-list chair Ronald Cardema, whose bid to become a lawmaker still hangs with the Commission on Elections.

Senator-elect Christopher “Bong” Go, who was the President’s longtime aide, was also at the dinner.

House Speaker bets are still courting the endorsement of Duterte, who has remained silent on his choice for the post.

But an aide to Senator Manny Pacquiao, the campaign manager for the President’s party in the midterm polls, said the chief executive will soon inform him of his choice for House leader.
