Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 11) — Party-list group Ang Probinsyano is conducting an investigation into their own representative who allegedly punched a waiter.

Neophyte lawmaker Rep. Alfred delos Santos punched a 20-year-old employee of Biggs Diner in Legazpi City, Albay "without any apparent reason" at around 3:40 a.m. on July 7, police said.

Party-list spokesman Joco Sabio said they will be impartial in their investigation. The group vowed Delos Santos will be punished accordingly if the allegations are proven. He is set to assume his seat in the 18th Congress on July 22.

"Definitely we will not tolerate any kind of abuse in our party. We will not hesitate to suspend or even remove Congressman Delos Santos if we establish that this was an unprovoked attack," Sabio said in a statement.

He said the lawmaker will be given the right to due process.

Ang Probinsyano party-list, which ran for the first time in the 2019 midterm polls, said the actions of Delos Santos do not reflect on their entire group.

"He is not the entire representation of the Ang Probinsyano Partylist. His actions and his decisions are his own and should not reflect on Ang Probinsyano as a party and as an organization," he stressed.
