Cinemalaya Awards 2019 Best Actor for 'John Denver Trending'

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, ‪August 12‬) - 'John Denver Trending,' a film about a 14-year-old farm boy’s life after a video of him bullying a classmate went viral, dominated this year’s Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival awards show on Sunday.

Directed by Arden Rod Condez, the film took home some of the night’s biggest awards including Best Film for the full-length category, Best Actor, Best Cinematography, Best Original Musical Score, Best Editing, NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) Jury prize.

It was also a big win for 'Iska,' which is about an autistic child’s poor but loving grandmother who lost everything. It bagged the Best Sound Design, Best Screenplay and Best Actress awards.
