Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 18) — Two passengers of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) suffered minor injuries after the window of one of its trains got shattered Wednesday afternoon.

Initial police investigation revealed that a male passenger, who boarded at Gil Puyat station, opened the window due to poor airconditioning inside the train. Strong winds, however, caused the glass window to break, injuring two of his co-passengers.

The injured passengers were provided immediate medical assistance and were rushed to the central LRT station for investigation.

Sweeden Ramirez of Light Rail Manila Corporation said the affected train will be removed, but assured that LRT-1's operation will be unaffected.

“May LRTs naman (There are trains) on standby for these emergencies, so operations won't be affected," Ramirez said, adding that they have yet to know how long it will take to restore the broken window.
