Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 29)— A taxi driver allegedly moonlighting as a holdupper was fatally shot early Wednesday by his passenger who turned out to be a cop.

PCpt. Ronald Carpio, of Parañaque City Police, said he boarded a cab from Macapagal Blvd. and told the driver to drop him off in a condominium along A. Santos Ave.

The victim noticed that the driver was heading to other directions until he announced the holdup.

Carpio pulled out his 9-mm service pistol and shot the suspect, who died on site.

The taxi driver was identified as Elmer Benson Tubil of Tandang Sora, Quezon City based on the recovered driver’s license.

The Parañaque City Police said that it already has a record of the taxi’s plate number after several earlier complaints.
