Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 26) — A graduate of the University of the Philippines Manila led 3,538 examines who passed the 2020 Physician Licensure Examination held this month, according to results posted by the Professional Regulation Commission on Thursday.

Jomel Garcia Lapides topped this year's licensure test for aspiring doctors with a score of 88.67%. In July 2011, Lapides also topped the nursing board exam.

Also among this year's passers is Trish Robredo, the daughter of Vice President Leni Robredo, who posted a tweet recognizing all those who believed in her.

The Vice President congratulated her daughter on social media, sharing a photo of the two of them hugging each other.

"Our children's achievements are always sweeter than our own. Congratulations, Trish, (t)hank you for making us proud many times over," the tweet said.

The younger Robredo graduated with a dual degree in Doctor of Medicine and Master of Business Administration from the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health last July.

Aside from Lapides, among the Top 10 passers was UP College of Medicine magna cum laude and 2020 class valedictorian Tiffany Uy, who landed in fifth place in this year's exams. She is known for holding the highest grade in UP Diliman's history after World War II, finishing her Bachelor of Science in Biology degree in 2015 with a near-perfect general weighted average of 1.004.

The Cebu Institute of Medicine recorded a 100% passing rate in the exams, followed by UP Manila (98.63%) and Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health (98.60%). The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (97.58%) and the University of Santo Tomas (95.61%) complete the Top 5 performing medical schools in this year's exams.

The PRC said the results were released seven working days after 4,704 examinees took for the exam conducted in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan De Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga.

Registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card and Certificate of Registration will be done online through PRC's website from Jan. 11-29, 2021.

The PRC added the date and venue for the oathtaking ceremony for the new physicians will be announced on a later date.
