Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 13) — Over 20 individuals were arrested in the Manila North Cemetery Saturday night for violating COVID-19 protocols, according to police.

Manila Police District Station 3 commander PLTCol John Guiagui told CNN Philippines that the people guests of a Christening reception were seen drinking within the cemetery premises and were not following physical distancing rules.

"Apparently (it) shows that they have violated the city ordinance, drinking liquors within north cemetery which is considered as a public place," Guiagui said in an interview.

"They are outside their residences. no face mask, not maintaining what we call the social distancing or physical distancing."

In a separate interview, Guiagui said those arrested would be detained until next week and pay a ₱200 fine each.

The apprehended individuals will face violations of the revised City Ordinance 5555 (drinking in public places) and coronavirus quarantine protocols, the officer noted.
