Cainta mayor to place town under quarantine over 3 confirmed cases of COVID-19

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 12) — Cainta Mayor Johnielle Keith Nieto will place the entire town of Cainta, Rizal under community quarantine starting March 15.

Nieto made the announcement in a Facebook post after three cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the area, specifically in Barangays San Isidro and San Andres.

“I am constrained to place the entire town of Cainta under quarantine,” he said in the post.

Two of the three patients have died.

He added that this is in pursuant of President Rodrigo Duterte’s pronouncements that are documented in Resolution No. 11 series of 2020.

Duterte also extended class suspensions in Metro Manila until April 12.

The cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines rose to 52, as the government raised the highest coronavirus alert level to Code Red, Sub-level 2.
