Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 19) — Valenzuela City has reported Thursday its first case of the novel coronavirus disease or COVID-19.

The local government announced that the city's first case was a 34-year-old woman with no travel history but was exposed to someone who visited Malaysia.

The patient is currently exhibiting mild flu-like symptoms and is under strict home quarantine, following guidelines of the Department of Health.

The local government said its epidemiology and surveillance unit has done contact tracing to contain the spread of the virus.

The Philippines currently has a total of 202 COVID-19 cases, with 17 fatalities to date.
