Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 28) — There have been 35 more overseas Filipinos who have reportedly contracted the coronavirus disease, bringing the total number of infected to 280, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Saturday.

“With approximately 10 million Overseas Filipinos (OFs) living and working around the world, some in large concentrations in countries that are now epicenters of COVID-19, it is inevitable that our nationals will be affected by this disease,” the department said in a statement.

From this number, four have already died from the disease, while 108 have recovered. There are still 168 undergoing treatment.

The DFA clarified that not all have been verified by the Department of Health. The agency said only 140 are included in the DOH record.

These Filipinos are scattered across 28 countries and regions, DFA said.

There are now over 590,500 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in at least 202 countries while 26,943 have died. The United States has the most number of known cases with a record of 100,717, followed by Italy and China.
