Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 1) - Armed Forces of the Philippines chief General Felimon Santos Jr. has ordered civilian and military personnel to wear face masks inside Camp Aguinaldo in a move against the spread of the COVID-19.

A memorandum order signed March 31 also makes the same instruction to other military camps and facilities in the country.

“This is to prevent and control the spread of the deadly disease inside the AFP General Headquarters,” the AFP said in a statement.

AFP further barred vehicles and pedestrians from entering through Camp Aguinaldo's Gate 1 starting April 2.

Santos confirmed last week that he tested positive for COVID-19. He underwent swab test after he presided over the donning of rank for a promoted senior AFP officer who later tested positive for the viral disease.
