DFA: 94 more Filipinos abroad contract COVID-19, 34 more die

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 25) — The Department of Foreign Affairs reported Monday that 94 more Filipinos abroad have contracted COVID-19 and 34 more of them have died because of the viral disease.

Most of the new cases were recorded in the Americas, while all the new deaths were recorded in the Middle East, the DFA said. This brings the tally of coronavirus infected Filipinos overseas to 2,617, while the death toll now stands at 328.

Ten more Filipinos abroad have survived the deadly disease, bringing total recoveries to 889. At least 1,400 overseas Filipinos are still receiving treatment for COVID-19, the DFA said.

The DFA said that most of the cases were recorded in Europe and the Middle East.

Worldwide, over 5.4 million have been infected with coronavirus, which causes COVID-19, and over 345,000 have died because of it.
