Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 6) — COVID-19 infections in the country have hit 21,340 with 714 new cases, the Department of Health reported Saturday.

The DOH said 350 of the fresh cases were patients whose test results were released within the last three days, while 364 were late cases whose results were released at least four days ago.

The agency also reported 111 new recoveries, bringing the total to 4,441, while seven more have succumbed to the disease, raising the death toll to 994.

The tally is based on the daily accomplishment reports submitted by 37 out of 43 current operational laboratories.

Meanwhile, the Department of Foreign Affairs reported Saturday eight more Filipinos abroad have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total to 5,369.

The DFA added that 13 more Overseas Filipinos have recovered from the disease, bringing the total to 2,225, while two others have died, raising the death toll to 363.

Globally, more than 6.6 million people have caught COVID-19, while nearly 400,000 have died.
