Magnitude 5.2 earthquake jolts Davao del Sur

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 11) – A 5.2-magnitude earthquake hit the province of Davao del Sur early Saturday morning, Phivolcs said.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the epicenter was 11 kilometers southeast of Kiblawan, Davao del Sur.

The tremor, caused by movement in the Earth’s crust, occured at 2:16 a.m and had a depth of 19 kilometers.

Intensity 5 was recorded in Bansalan and Magsaysay, Davao del Sur; Intensity 4 in Kidapawan City, Tupi, South Cotabato, and Malungon, Sarangan; Intensity 2 in Alabel, Sarangani and General Santos City; and Intensity 1 in Kiamba, Sarangani

Phivolcs said aftershocks are possible, but did not expect damage.
