Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 19) — The Department of Agriculture said it will shut down its main office in Quezon City from July 20 to 24 to ensure the safety of its workforce amid threats of COVID-19.

In a memorandum released on Sunday, Agriculture Secretary William Dar said the measure will allow for thorough disinfection of the area, as well as for the installation of precautionary measures against the virus.

“Also, this will afford all personnel reporting in the DA Central Office a 14-day quarantine period in view of recent reports of individual/s tested positive for COVID-19,” he wrote.

No further details were given on those who reportedly caught the viral disease.

Dar said all affected employees will be asked to temporarily work from home during the disinfection period.

Nationwide, COVID-19 has hit over 67,000 people and resulted in the death of some 1,800 patients.
